Gardening:

Ever considered an Urban or Indoor Garden? This is a fantastic way to reconnect with the natural world, for those of us who can’t always find time to be outdoors. This type of gardening can be a way to center, provide fresh, healthy produce, less environmental impact, and add beauty to your home. It is a fun way to share the experience with family and friends too!

Here are several methods to consider, based on your situation and interests (“Field Guide to Urban Gardening“):

Container Gardening – this is the most flexible type as it allows you to grow food in various shaped and sized containers, for all sizes in living space.

Raised Bed Gardening – can be a very productive way to garden in tight space.

Vertical Gardening – a technique to squeeze more plants into a small space. Think trellises and climbing plants.

Indoor Gardening – the use of a multi-tier stand with LED lighting or a windowsill (“kitchen garden”) to grow your favorites!

Balconies and Rooftops – you will need to protect your plants from the elements, but with layering techniques this is a great option.

Hydroponics – a soil-less, high tech method that uses mineral nutrient solutions to grow.
